Here are two events not to be missed in August in Malta…
La Notte di San Lorenzo
This 9th of August, a spectacular fireworks night will take place at the Grand Harbour of Valletta. It will start at 10:00PM. The event is free of charge for all to enjoy.
Some of the fireworks will be synchronised to music and other will be traditional Maltese fireworks which will be fired off of barges in the Grand Harbour.
‘10th August Pyrotechnic Association’ of Vittoriosa is organising this event, on the occasion of the feast of St. Lawrence of Vittoriosa.
The Feast of the Assumption
Every 15th of August is celebrated the fest of Santa Maria, also known as the Assumption. This is an important religious event, and it is honoured all around the Maltese Islands. 7 cities are particulary celebrating this popular “Festa” : Għaxaq, Gudja, Ħ’Attard, Mosta, Mqabba and Qrendi in Malta, and Victoria in Gozo. The streets of these cities will be decorated with flags, banners, illuminations. The statue of the Virgin Mary will be taken around the villages for a procession.
